Last year, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 was released. This year, the Chinese giant comes forth with a successor: The Xiaomi Mi Note 3. During an exclusive event in China, the mid-range smartphone was officially announced alongside Mi Notebook Pro (Windows 10 laptop) and the bezel-less Mi Mix 2 Tablet.
Like Xiaomi’s 2017 flagship that was released months ago — the Mi 6 — the Mi Note 3 features a dual-rear camera — which means two cameras at the rear. The smartphone has two versions. One is the 64GB storage and 6GB RAM version, while the other comes with the same 6GB RAM but a bigger 128GB storage. The former is priced at ¥ 2499 (Rs. 24,500 or US$ 383) and comes in color black only. The latter is priced at ¥ 2999 (Rs. 29,400 or US$ 460) and comes in colours black and blue.
The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 design is premium. It goes for a four-sided display — which is stunning made with a glass that curves at the sides. The smartphone is sexily slim and uses a nice aluminum frame.
It comes with a 1920 x 1080 pixels’ screen resolution featured on a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (plus a reading mode), while the aspect ratio is 16:9.
It is fully powered by the Qualcomm Snapgradon 660 chipset integrated with 6GB RAM. As stated earlier, it comes in 64GB storage variant and 128GB storage variant. It supports dual Nano SIM and runs smoothly on the latest Android 7.1 Nougat coupled with the latest MIUI 9.
As stated earlier, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 features two 12-megapixel cameras in the rear (called a dual-camera). The camera is very functional with 4-axis OIS and 2x optical zoom extras. Packed with Adaptable AI Beautify for facial beautification, the front camera is 12-megapixels. It also has a facial recognition feature that can be used to unlock the device.
The Mi Note 3 has a 3500mAh battery that is packed with Quick Charge 3.0 — a technology by Qualcomm. It fully supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G LTE, USB Type-C, NFC, and GPS/GLONASS. The device weighs 163g and has 152.6 x 73.95 x 7.6mm dimensions.
The device has an IR blaster and loud stereo speakers. Also, it features a fingerprint scanner, which is perfectly embedded in the home button. Xiaomi has announced that the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 with be in stores from September 12.
