A recent image leak on Weibo has revealed the spec sheet for the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. This has confirmed speculation surrounding the new device, released on September 11 by Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi.
What The Leak Shows About the Chipset?
Perhaps the most important information from this leak is about the chipset to be used in the phone.
The image clearly states that the Mi Mix 2’s processor will be a Snapdragon 836 octa-core, paired with the Adreno 540 GPU. This is powerful hardware, and the Snapdragon 836 has long been rumored as the processor for Google’s upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.
What The Leak Shows About the Software?
After recently releasing Android 7.0 Nougat for some devices, it seems Xiaomi is planning on running its latest device on the recently released Android 8.0 Oreo.
Like many of China’s smartphone companies, Xiaomi does not update its devices regularly. If the Mi Mix 2 has Nougat installed out of the box, it would mean an update would not be needed for a good deal of time.
What The Leak Shows About the Hardware?
A lot of information is contained within the image of the spec sheet, and most of it centers around the hardware of the device.
It seems the Mi Mix 2 will have a 6.2 inch display, with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels. This would make the phone a strong competitor in the marketplace. When we recognize that Google’s improved Pixel XL came with a 5.5-inch screen and a 2560×1440 pixel resolution, we can see that Xiaomi mean business.
The leak also shows the device will have an impressive 20 megapixel rear-facing camera. With most current phones ranging between 12 and 16 megapixels, this is a staggering improvement.
The device is also stated to have 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage, making it one of the most powerful smartphones around.
Can We Believe This Leak?
With any leak surrounding the release of a new smartphone, we must always proceed with caution
The leak could have come from within the Xiaomi company, seeking to hype the release of its new device. Without an official source, the leak could have been manufactured for many different purposes.
However, if it proves true, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be a phone to contend with.
