Samsung could be making a 50% profit on each Galaxy S10+

A couple of days ago, South Korean manufacturing giant, Samsung, released its latest flagship series, Galaxy S10 series. Today, Tech Insights analyzed the Samsung Galaxy S10+ (Exynos 9820, SM-G975F/DS) and summarized the BOM (material) cost. The report shows that the 8GB+128GB version manufacturing price is $420 which is about 42% of its $999 retail price. Of course, although the assembly, auxiliary materials, and testing costs are considered, the BOM cost analysis is for reference only. After all, it also condenses the investment in R&D, logistics, manpower, and enterprise propaganda. It cannot be simply assumed that the profit of S10+ can reach 50%.

Tech Insights believes that the most expensive component is the 6.4-inch Infinity-O Ultra-Sensor Full Screen (with ultrasonic fingerprinting), valued at $86.5; the second most expensive component is the Exynos 9820 chip, which is approximately $70.50. The third is the camera components, which costs about $56.5. As a classic of the Galaxy S series for 10 years, the Galaxy S10 series is fully upgraded in hardware and software, with Galaxy S10+ storage up to 1TB.

The screen uses a cutout screen design. The Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10 are equipped with a single front-mounted camera. The Galaxy S10+ is equipped with a dual front-mounted camera. It supports 4K self-timer video recording and has a 6.4-inch 2K+ resolution curved screen. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ are equipped with ultrasonic fingerprint recognition to help it work in different weather conditions.

In terms of taking pictures, the Galaxy S10 series makes the camera function more intelligent through the NPU, supports 2x optical zoom, 10x digital zoom, and a super wide angle of up to 123°. You can manually set parameters to take more professional photos without entering the professional mode. The Galaxy S10+ also comes with a 4100 mAh battery, and the full range supports wireless reverse charging to charge the Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch.
